Minister of Communications, Charles Al-Hajj, explained, “The Ministry gave directives to the two cellular operating companies to address the leakage of pre-charge revenues. Citizens pay for the service, but the revenues do not reach the two companies, and therefore they do not reach the public treasury.”
He stressed that “the Ministry will not allow this service to be exploited on the black market, and that a service that was created primarily to facilitate matters for subscribers should not be turned into a source of profits outside legal frameworks.” He stressed that “the balances on the lines are preserved.”
He pointed out that “the two companies are required to submit a comprehensive proposal to the ministry within a specific period, ensuring that the mechanism is controlled and the necessary revenues collected for maintenance and development, provided that the ministry takes its decision on the basis of it.”
He concluded: “Exploitation is prohibited.”
