The trip on the Laqlouq Road, which is supposed to be a space for rest and enjoyment of nature, turns into repeated suffering due to the spread of stalls on both sides of the road, amid an increasing narrowing of the path for cars and the accumulation of waste, in light of the absence of organization that preserves public safety and the beauty of the area.
According to information from Lebanon Debate, stalls spread randomly on both sides of the road and took over parts of its path, causing traffic obstruction, especially during the weekend and with the increase in the number of visitors.
Data show that the road is essentially narrow, while the proliferation of stalls and cars stopping next to it leads to stifling congestion that may reach the point of completely closing the road to transit traffic, in addition to the possibility of obstructing the passage of ambulances and fire engines in the event of any emergency.
The problem is not limited to congestion, as it also includes the accumulation of garbage and waste left by some stall owners and visitors, which distorts the natural landscape and turns the sides of the road into random points for throwing garbage.
According to “Lebanon Debate” information, the area where the stalls are spread is located outside the administrative scope of both the municipalities of Aqoura and Laqlouq, which raises questions about the party responsible for organizing and monitoring the site and addressing existing violations.
This reality requires the intervention of the concerned authorities to organize the stalls and prevent their extension to the right of way, ensure the flow of traffic and remove waste periodically, in a way that preserves the safety of passers-by and visitors and the beauty of the area.
