“The state will not leave the people of the South alone.” Salam is following up on the issue of shelter and safe return

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received a delegation from the southern town of Al-Dhahira, where the delegation presented the difficult conditions faced by the people of the town as a result of displacement, and demanded that the shelter issue be addressed.

Ali Abu Samra, on behalf of the delegation, said: “We presented to the Prime Minister our difficult situation as a result of displacement, and asked him to look into the issue of shelter, and he promised us good things.”

Salam stressed that “the state will not leave the people of Dhaheira and the rest of the people of the south to face the burdens of displacement alone,” noting that the government is studying various options to address the shelter issue, including providing rent allowances for displaced families, and working to speed up procedures in this area.

He added that these steps come in parallel with the efforts aimed at securing complete Israeli withdrawal and providing conditions that allow the people of the South to return safely to their towns and land.

In another meeting, Salam received the head of the Middle East office at Reporters Without Borders, Jonathan Dagher, accompanied by the organization’s correspondent in Lebanon, Elissar Qubaisi, where they discussed the media law and the reality of media freedoms in Lebanon.

He also received the Governor of Mount Lebanon and the Chairman of the Authority for the Welfare of Hajj and Umrah Affairs, Judge Muhammad Makkawi, and discussed the file of land Umrah trips and the regulatory procedures being prepared to ensure the safety and rights of pilgrims, and determine the responsibilities of companies and concerned parties.

The meeting also discussed the measures taken to address the dangers of birds gathering in the vicinity of Rafic Hariri International Airport, and to follow up on the implementation of the measures decided to remove the sources of their attraction, in coordination between the ministries, agencies and municipalities concerned, in a way that ensures the safety of air navigation.
