Reports reported by the “9to5Mac” technical website reveal that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models will be among the fall phones, along with the first foldable iPhone, while the launch of the basic iPhone 18 will be postponed to early 2027.
It seems that the iPhone 18 Pro this year will receive a set of changes that make it more different from the previous generation, especially at the camera level, design, connectivity, and battery life.
One of the most notable changes revealed by 9to5Mac is a major upgrade to the main camera. According to a leak reported by the website from leaker Fixed Focus Digital, the change will lead to an increase of more than 2 mm in the aluminum alloy back, as a result of the use of a larger main camera unit.
The cameras may witness a difference for the first time between the Pro and Pro Max models. A separate report by 9to5Mac indicated that two features that were previously thought to arrive on both phones may become exclusive to the Pro Max.
Among these features are 6x optical zoom and a more advanced 5x prismatic technology, while the iPhone 18 Pro may get between 5x and 6x zoom. This information is still within the scope of leaks and is not confirmed specifications from Apple.
The change will not be limited to the back of the phone. According to another report, Apple is working to reduce the Dynamic Island in the Pro models, while moving some components of the Face ID system to the bottom of the screen.
Another important change is Apple’s move to an internally designed cellular modem called C2, instead of relying entirely on the Qualcomm modem.
At the appearance level, Apple may add a new color to the Pro phones, described as Dark Cherry or Burgundy, that is, a dark red color that tends to burgundy.
If these leaks are true, this will be a striking change from the traditional colors that Apple used to offer in its Pro phones, but the colors remain a detail that is difficult to confirm before the official announcement.
Apple has not officially announced the date of the iPhone 18 event. But 9to5Mac believes that Wednesday, September 9, 2026, is the most likely date for the reveal, based on Apple’s pattern in recent years. (Erm News)
