The promise of the star Mohamed Salah to his former teammate Fabinho was fulfilled more than 3 years later, after the Brazilian international came close to teaming up with the Egyptian star again in Trabzonspor, Turkey.
Fabinho arrived in Trabzon in preparation for his joining the team and his return to partner with Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, after they played together in English Liverpool between 2017 and until Fabinho moved to the Saudi Jeddah Ittihad in the summer of 2023.
Salah said in a video published by Liverpool FC to bid farewell to Fabinho in August 2023: Good luck to you, my friend, we will meet soon. It was then understood that Salah, who was reported to be in negotiations with the Saudi League at the time, meant that he was close to moving to join Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Fabinho, his former teammates at Liverpool.
Salah spent the past three seasons with Liverpool, while Fabinho played for Ittihad Jeddah until the end of last season.
The two played against each other in only one match throughout that period, during a friendly match between their teams before the last World Cup.
