Formula 1.. Albon extends his contract with Williams until 2027

Thai driver Alex Albon has extended his contract with the Williams team, competing in the Formula 1 World Championship, until next season, according to what the British car park announced.

Albon (30 years old) finished last season in eighth place, achieving Williams’ best result since 2016.

Albon joined the British team four years ago, and will now stay with them until the end of 2027.

Williams team principal James Vowles said in a statement: “Alex is one of the best drivers on the grid and knows better than anyone the tremendous progress we have made in recent years. Renewing his contract shows the confidence we share in the direction we are heading.”

This agreement comes after Albon reached the barrier of 100 races with Williams.

Fowles had said in interviews with Agence France-Presse in February that Williams winning the world championship this season or next was “not realistic,” before Albon said that Williams had started the 2026 campaign “at a later stage compared to our competitors.”

But Albon said in a statement issued by Williams on Tuesday: “One difficult year does not tell the whole story, but rather gives me more motivation to continue building and progressing together alongside the barn and our fans in order to achieve great achievements.”

He added: “Our story is not over yet, so my full focus now is on doing everything necessary to get us back to advanced positions on the starting line.”
