Today, Monday, Israeli forces uprooted cement blocks placed on the Mays al-Jabal-Shaqra road, simultaneously uprooting eucalyptus trees in the area using bulldozers brought to the site, at a time when bulldozing work continues on the western outskirts of the town of Mays al-Jabal.
Israeli bulldozers bulldozed a number of homes and private property on the outskirts of the town, in a new field development that comes as part of a series of military movements that the eastern sector has witnessed since the night hours.
The bulldozing operations in Mays al-Jabal coincided with a widespread Israeli escalation that extended to a number of towns and southern axes, and varied between air strikes, artillery shelling, sweeping operations with machine guns, and movements of military vehicles.
The escalation began around midnight, when Israeli warplanes raided the outskirts of the town of Qantara, before operations expanded at dawn, with artillery shelling targeting the Ali Al-Taher and Wadi Al-Hujair areas.
This coincided with sweeping operations with machine guns towards the valley on the outskirts of the town of Haris, before the bombing moved to additional areas along the south.
At 6:10 am, an Israeli artillery shelling targeted the Maryamin area, located between the towns of Zabqin and Yater, while the town of Talusah was subjected to artillery shelling at approximately 8:58 am, accompanied by sweeping operations with machine guns.
Minutes later, the advance of an Israeli mechanized force was recorded from Wadi al-Jamal on the outskirts of the town of Hula towards Wadi al-Saluki, in a field movement that coincided with the continuation of operations on other axes.
At 9:32 am, artillery shelling targeted the outskirts of Mays al-Jabal and Wadi Shaqra, in conjunction with sweeping operations with machine guns towards the outskirts of Hadatha town.
In the same context, Israeli vehicles moved east of the town of Khiam in the Marjayoun District, coinciding with intense sweeping operations with medium and heavy machine guns towards the town’s neighborhoods and its outskirts, while the sounds of gunfire were heard in a number of neighboring villages and towns in the eastern sector.
The developments in Mays al-Jabal are gaining an additional dimension as Israeli activity moves from bombing and sweeping to using bulldozers, uprooting concrete obstacles and trees, and bulldozing homes and private property, coinciding with vehicle movements in areas near Hula, Wadi al-Saluki, and Khiam.
Mays al-Jabal is located within the eastern sector of southern Lebanon, near a number of border towns and axes that witnessed repeated military operations and Israeli movements during the recent period, while the Mays al-Jabal-Shakra road forms a corridor linking the region towards the southern interior.
The bulldozing works come at a time when the south is witnessing a continuing wave of escalation, a major part of which has focused in recent days on the Ali Al-Tahir Heights, Wadi Al-Hujar and Wadi Al-Saluki, in addition to operations in a number of towns and surrounding areas.
The escalation also coincides with a displacement movement from some southern towns, after raids, shelling, and military movements forced a number of families, especially those including children and the elderly, to leave their areas for fear of expanding the scope of operations.
Field developments coincide with the continuation of political and diplomatic contacts related to the situation in southern Lebanon and the implementation of Resolution 1701, amid efforts to prevent the expansion of operations and restore stability, while Israel continues its military movements on the ground.
From the raid on Al-Qantara to the bombing of Ali Al-Taher and Wadi Al-Hujair, through the movement of vehicles near Hula and Al-Khiyam, up to the uprooting of blocks and trees and the bulldozing of property in Mays Al-Jabal, the escalation continues on more than one axis, amid anticipation of the course of developments during the coming hours.
