Ministry spokesman, Salim Al-Rikabi, said on Sunday, “The Ministry was keen to develop refinery projects, especially those that focus on the production of white products, to meet the local need for them and reduce their import, especially gasoline and gas oil.”
He added, “Among the giant projects that the Ministry was keen to complete is the FCC project in the Basra Refinery,” noting that “the project was completed by the Japanese company JGC, which began resuming work after stopping due to the situation in the region,” according to the Iraqi News Agency “INA.”
Al-Rikabi said, “The Iraqi government pays great attention to the issue of investing in gas and not burning it, as it is a great wealth that is still being wasted by burning,” explaining that “the ministry has developed a plan that includes ending gas burning completely by the end of 2029.”
He pointed out that “a number of projects have entered into operation, including Basra Gas Company projects with a total capacity of 400 million standard cubic feet, as well as the Halfaya project with a capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet, in addition to the ministry continuing to invest free gas in the Mansouriya field with a capacity of 300 million cubic feet and 400 million cubic feet in the Okaz field.”
