Former MP George Abdeen Kassarji died at the age of 88, after leaving a prominent presence in the industrial sector in Lebanon and a number of Arab countries, before entering political work as a representative for the second Bekaa district in the 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2005 sessions.

Kassarji was known for his parliamentary career during which he participated in a number of committees, including the Public Works and Transport Committee, and the Information, Post and Transportation Committee. He also served as rapporteur of the Information Technology Committee, and was a member of the Popular Bloc that was headed by the late MP Elias Skaf.

The family of the deceased mourned former MP George Abdeen Kassarji.

The deceased is the husband of Aida Jamil Al-Khuwairi, and his siblings are the children of the late Hanna Kassarji and their families, Janet Sharshafji, the widow of the late Joseph Kassarji and her family, Eva Shami, the widow of the late Edmond Kassarji and her family, and his sister, the children of the late Angel Kassarji and their families.

He was also mourned by his father-in-law’s children: Jacqueline, the wife of Dr. Nabih Sader, and her family, Nihad Khoury, and her family, Nadine, Raymond Jadra’s wife, and her family, and the entire families of Kassarji, Al-Khuwairi, Bedrosian, Sharshafji, Shami, Khanjian, Boghosian, Kassar, Foskorian, and their relatives at home and abroad.

The prayer for his repose will be celebrated at 4 pm on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Deliverance in Zahle.

Condolences will be accepted on Tuesday in the cathedral salon from 10 am until 7 pm, and on Thursday, July 9, 2026 in the hall of the Armenian Catholic Cathedral of Saints Gregory the Illuminator and Elias the Prophet in downtown Beirut, from 11 am until 6 pm.

The family requested not to send wreaths, and instead donate them to the church, and that the deceased be buried in the cemetery.
