The activities of Al-Beddawi, Wadi Al-Nahla and Al-Jawwar demanded, in a statement, “to put a final end to the random throwing of waste at the Al-Fawwar landfill,” pointing out that “after the acting governor of the north, Iman Al-Rafii, issued a decision to stop throwing waste at the Al-Fawwar landfill, following the petition submitted by the mayors, mayors and activists of the Al-Badawi, Wadi Al-Nahla and Al-Jawwar region, the people were surprised by the re-throwing of waste again in the landfill, in clear disdain. “With people’s demands and their health and environmental rights.”

The statement added, “This is not the first time that a decision has been issued to stop dumping, and then work on the landfill is resumed after a short period. This is something we consider irresponsible behavior and totally unacceptable, and constitutes a disregard for the activities of the region and its notables, and the suffering of the people who daily pay the price for this pollution and its disastrous effects on health and the environment.”

In their statement, the residents affirmed, “We categorically reject turning our region into a waste dump, and the resulting environmental and health damage that threatens our families and children, and negatively affects the air, water, and public life in the entire region. We also renew our demand for the Governor of the North to take a decisive and final decision to stop dumping in the Al-Fawwar landfill, and not to withdraw from it under any pretext. Otherwise, the people and the region’s activists will take direct field steps.” To prevent the continuation of this environmental crime, we hold the governor personally fully responsible for any tension or repercussions that may result from the continuation of this approach.”
