The repercussions of the security incident that targeted the secretary of the “Democratic Gathering” bloc, MP Hadi Abu Al-Hassan, in the town of Qubaieh, interacted with the entry of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri, into the political follow-up line, in light of the ongoing investigations to uncover the backgrounds and circumstances of the attack.

In this context, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri made a call to MP Hadi Abu Al-Hassan, reassuring him of his health after he survived the armed attack he was exposed to in Upper Matn.

During the call, Abu Al-Hassan affirmed his confidence in the judicial authorities and security agencies, stressing the need to uncover the circumstances of the incident, determine its motives, and hold those involved accountable.

On Thursday evening, the town of Qubaie witnessed a serious security incident after the so-called Maher Tarabeh opened fire on Abu Al-Hassan using a military weapon, in addition to throwing an unexploded bomb, without the attack leading to any casualties.

Lebanese Army Intelligence began its investigations immediately after the incident occurred, amid a security alert and widespread political follow-up, especially after conflicting information was circulated about the background of the attack, before sources in the Progressive Socialist Party denied the existence of any personal background between the assailant and Abu Al-Hassan, stressing that investigations alone will determine the true motives for what happened.

The past few hours also witnessed the visit of a delegation from the town of Qubay’, the birthplace of the attacker, to Abu Al-Hassan, where they expressed their denunciation of the incident and their rejection of any tension or internal strife, in a step aimed at containing the repercussions of what happened and emphasizing the rejection of resorting to weapons and violence.
