In light of the escalation of demand movements in the public sector, the “Gathering of Public Sector Associations – Military and Civilians” waved new escalatory steps, against the backdrop of the delay in disbursing the six multipliers approved by the Council of Ministers.

The group held a meeting at the headquarters of the Armed Forces Veterans Association, during which it stopped, according to a statement, “the warning strike it called for at its last meeting, and the outcome of communications with officials regarding the disbursement of the six multipliers approved by the Council of Ministers on February 16 last.”

The group recorded “an unjustified delay by the Ministry of Finance in preparing a draft law to open the necessary appropriation to cover the expense resulting from the increase in these complications,” recalling that “what is required is to prepare the draft as stated in Clause Seven of Cabinet Resolution No. 2 dated 2/16/2026, and refer it to the Council to give it the legal course in accordance with the rules.”

In this context, he saluted “all workers in the public sector, including public administration employees, professors, teachers, and contractors,” thanking those who carried out the strike, and calling for “preparedness to take action at the appropriate time.”

He considered that “the justifications offered by some officials, especially the Minister of Finance, to justify the delay in disbursing the multipliers are unconvincing and contradict the financial and economic reality,” noting that “the cost of these multipliers does not exceed $60 million per month, and they are sufficient to restart the economic cycle.”

The gathering also saluted “the workers of Lebanon on the occasion of May 1,” stressing that it “will not hesitate to struggle to achieve its demands, and will use all legitimate means, including submitting a complaint to the International Labor Organization.”

The group called on workers in the public sector, including educational bodies, administrators, and contractors, to “escalate the action by implementing a strike on Wednesday and Thursday, May 6 and 7, 2026,” while remaining “fully prepared for any emergency action according to developments.”
