Prince Hashem bin Al Hussein was appointed to a high position by royal decision in Amman

Amman – Agencies:

A royal decree was issued in Jordan today, Thursday, appointing Prince Hashem bin Al Hussein as an advisor to Jordanian King Abdullah II, effective October 29, 2026. This step comes to return Prince Hashem to a prominent official position in the advisory environment of the Royal Court.

Prince Hashem (born June 10, 1981) is the younger brother of King Abdullah II, and the son of the late King Hussein bin Talal and Queen Noor Al Hussein. He has previously assumed many official duties, most notably serving as Chief Secretary to the King between January 12, 2017 and September 7, 2020, in addition to assuming the duties of Viceroy on several occasions.

Prince Hashem’s career extends to important military and security milestones. He served in the Special Forces, Counter-Terrorism, and Al-Saiqa units, and assumed command of the Royal 61st Commando Battalion. He also served as advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Special Operations and Rapid Reaction Forces.

It is noteworthy that this decision comes within a series of royal appointments aimed at organizing positions of responsibility in the advisory circles close to the Jordanian king, at a time when the official announcement did not include additional details about the nature of the files that Prince Hashem will handle in his new position.
