The heated confrontation between Washington and Tehran has entered a very sensitive security juncture, with American officials suggesting the presence of Iranian cells and elements inside American territory, in parallel with intelligence reports indicating the existence of plans to target American diplomats and officials in the Middle East, Europe, and other regions around the world.
Today, Saturday, an American official confirmed the authenticity of an intelligence memorandum that warned of serious risks linked to potential Iranian plans targeting American diplomats and officials. Other officials explained that President Donald Trump and his senior aides receive periodic briefings regarding these escalating threats, pointing out that analysts have been studying data indicating the possible presence of elements linked to Iran inside the United States, as well as monitoring potential targets on the European continent.
In the same context, an intelligence memorandum was addressed to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, warning that Tehran would intensify its efforts to target American government officials, indicating that some plans aimed at attacking American citizens may have reached advanced stages.
On the field and precautionary levels, the US State Department, yesterday, Friday, reduced the number of its employees at four embassies in the Middle East while restricting some operational operations, while emphasizing that these missions will remain open and continue to perform their official duties.
On the other hand, another American official downplayed Tehran’s actual operational capabilities to carry out attacks within the United States or in distant regions, considering that Iranian ambitions far exceed its field capabilities to carry out these threats.
