The Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation issued a decision to suspend the captain and star of the Saudi Al-Nasr Club, Cristiano Ronaldo, for a period of 30 days, and to impose a fine of 255 euros on him, due to his leaving his country’s national team camp in Denmark during the recent international break.
According to what was reported by the Portuguese newspaper “Apola” on Monday, this punishment came after the completion of a review of the disciplinary procedures open against the player, who was previously subject to a precautionary suspension due to the same incident.
The Disciplinary Board explained in the merits of its decision that the investigations proved that Ronaldo committed an intentional disciplinary violation, based on the first paragraph of Article 160 of the Federation’s disciplinary regulations.
The details of the incident date back to September 30, when Ronaldo left the “Sailors” camp on the eve of the confrontation that was scheduled against the Danish national team in the capital, Copenhagen.
Despite the punishment, the Portuguese newspaper confirmed that the suspension will not prevent Ronaldo from representing his country in the next two matches. The penalty period is scheduled to end before the scheduled matches against Denmark on November 14, and Wales on the 17th of the same month in the capital, Cardiff.
