Popular protests in Housh Al-Harima, objecting to the transfer of secondary school

Today, the people of the town of Housh al-Harima in the Western Bekaa blocked the Marj-Jeb Jenin main road with burning tires, in protest against decisions issued by the Ministry of Education requiring the transfer of the town’s high school to the town of Marj and the referral of the school principal to the central inspection.

The Lebanon Debate correspondent reported that the protesters deliberately blocked the vital road for a short period, which required traffic to be diverted to side roads, before they were reopened to traffic and things returned to normal about half an hour after the movement began.

The parents raised clear demands, namely the appointment of a new high school principal, and the maintenance of the educational process in the town of Hosh Al-Harima, categorically refusing to transfer students to any alternative location.

This move reflects the growing state of tension and sensitivity regarding educational decisions related to the management of public schools, especially in areas that insist on keeping their educational facilities within their geographical scope in order to avoid placing additional burdens on students and their parents.
