The fall of two missiles on Aden Airport heralds the start of a new wave of escalation in Yemen

Yemen witnessed a large-scale military escalation on several fronts, which extended to include targeting civilian and vital installations, in conjunction with fierce battles and intense military movements in Aden, Taiz, and Lahj, as well as attacks that affected Saudi territory.

The media office of the Aden City Security Department announced that Aden International Airport was bombed by two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis, indicating that no human casualties were recorded according to preliminary data.

In the field context, government forces launched a large military operation in the border region linking the provinces of Lahj and Taiz, aiming to regain control of the Al-Waziyah District, west of Taiz, and paving the way for an advance towards the Al-Mokha and Dhubab districts, which are under the control of the Houthis. On the other hand, Houthi media reported that the districts of Madhikhara in Ibb and Sharab in Taiz were bombed, which reflects the expansion of the confrontations.

In addition, Yemeni sources reported that the Houthis are imposing a siege on the commander of the 35th Armored Brigade and hundreds of fighters from the government forces in one of the villages of the Al-Mawasit District, south of Taiz, after cutting off their supply lines.

At the regional level, the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced the interception and destruction of a ballistic missile launched towards the city of Khamis Mushait, south of the Kingdom. The Ministry confirmed that the capital, Sanaa, and the governorates of Saada and Amran constitute major sources of Houthi missile threats, stressing the continuation of military operations to neutralize these capabilities and destroy ballistic missile launchers and surface-to-surface missiles.

This double escalation reshapes the field scene in Yemen, opening the door to simultaneous military paths extending from Aden, the Taiz and Lahj fronts, all the way to the Saudi interior, amid indications of an escalation in the pace of confrontations at all levels.
