From the White House... Raji raises the issue of withdrawal and arms control

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Raji, reported through his account on the “X” platform that he held a meeting at the White House with the US Deputy National Security Advisor, Michael Needham, during which the current developments in Lebanon and the Middle East region were discussed, especially the “Framework Agreement” and the files related to its implementation.

Raji indicated that the discussions focused on the mechanisms for moving forward in implementing the agreement, including achieving Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, and steps aimed at completing the restriction of weapons to the Lebanese state alone.

This meeting is part of an intense diplomatic movement led by Beirut in the American capital, and aims to advance sovereign and security issues. These developments come in line with the official position of the Lebanese government, which links the extension of its full sovereignty over its territory and the exclusiveness of weapons to the necessity of Israeli withdrawal.

During his recent visit to Washington, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam presented a set of priorities, including setting a clear timetable for Israeli withdrawal, confirming the exclusivity of weapons in the hands of the state, as well as establishing a precise mechanism to verify the parties’ commitment to implementing their pledges.
