Vice President of the Free Patriotic Movement for Administrative Affairs, Ghassan Al-Khoury, confirmed that “the movement’s axis is Lebanon, not the axis of Israel or Iran,” stressing his party’s adherence to the state and army project, and standing by the people of the West Bekaa, while directing sharp criticism at its political opponents.
Al-Khoury’s statements came during his representation of the head of the “Free Patriotic Movement” at the annual dinner of the West Bekaa Judicial Authority, where he began his speech by affirming solidarity with the people of the region to ensure their steadfastness in their land, recalling prominent political milestones, including the anniversary of “October 13,” which he said recalls attempts to “cancel the dream of a state that protects Lebanon and whose army is the ultimate command,” all the way to the events of “October 17,” which he considered sought to abort a long process, adding that “one of their worst luck is that they do not understand the meaning of the movement.” Free Patriotic.”
Al-Khoury directed harsh criticism at the movement’s opponents, considering that “it is a crying joke that anyone who enters under the boots of the occupier is trying to bully the movement and its president,” stressing that the response to them lies in monitoring the movement’s movements in their areas, and refusing to fall into political subordination.
Regarding the sovereign and internal affairs, Al-Khoury stressed the movement’s patriotism and its ability to support its people in difficult times, revealing efforts to formulate a “Lebanon Protection Paper” and communicate through it with various parties, based on the desire for coexistence among all components and to end the occupation. He also touched on the issue of Syrian displacement, asking who is better able than the people of the Bekaa to recognize its imminent dangers.
On the economic level, Al-Khoury criticized the draft general budget, pointing out that it depends 86% on tax collections. He once again concluded his pledge to always stand by the people of the Western Bekaa in the face of the current challenges.
