Urgent move from Real Madrid to UEFA

Real Madrid demanded the imposition of “historic” sanctions against its traditional rival, Barcelona, in conjunction with news that the European Football Association (UEFA) had reopened the “Negrira” case file.

On the other hand, Barcelona issued an official response to deny those reports that talked about reactivating UEFA procedures, explaining that the investigations were never closed in the first place until they were reopened.

The Catalan club’s statement explained that the procedures actually began in 2023 with the appointment of two investigators, indicating that Barcelona has always complied with all their requests, and that the investigations are continuing and have not stopped.

The statement added that what was issued by the European Union only confirms the receipt of the documents submitted by Real Madrid for evaluation within the ongoing investigation, stressing that the text of the statement explicitly indicated, in two places, the existence of an ongoing investigation and review, without announcing the start or reopening of any new procedures, and without providing any assessment of the content or value of the documents submitted.
