New acquisition: Messi extends his sporting influence in Spanish stadiums with a second club

The 39-year-old Argentine star, who continues his football career with Inter Miami, has become the owner of two sports clubs, after his acquisition last April of UE Cornella, a club competing in the fifth division.

In a new step, the “El Denense” club, founded in 1921 and currently occupying nineteenth place in the second division, announced the transfer of its ownership to the Argentine star. The club explained in an official statement that this acquisition opens a new and hopeful chapter in its history that extends for more than a century, indicating that it aims to launch a long-term project to enhance the team’s sporting, institutional and social development, while preserving its roots, history and identity with the blue and red colors (Blaugrana).

This deal comes as a culmination of media expectations that have prevailed in recent weeks about Messi taking the helm, while all acquisition procedures remain subject to prior mandatory authorization by the Spanish Supreme Sports Council (CSD), in line with the laws in force in Spain.
