Former Brazilian football star, Roberto Carlos, revealed that he lost about 99% of the total wealth he earned throughout his sports career, due to complex financial and family crises.
Carlos (53 years old) explained, in statements highlighted by the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, that his exposure to exploitation by people who took over the management of his business led to the emptying of his bank accounts, coinciding with severe disputes with his former agent and difficult family problems.
The Brazilian star described the shock of his discovery of the crisis, saying: “I went to sleep on Thursday at midnight, and on Friday I received a pile of documents that I knew nothing about at all, and then I realized that I had lost everything.”
