Two British pilots escaped certain death following the crash of a Hawk T2 military training aircraft belonging to the British Royal Air Force, shortly after take-off from Vale Air Base on the island of Anglesey, Wales.
Eyewitnesses reported that fire broke out in the plane immediately after take-off, followed by a sharp climb and complete loss of control, before the plane plummeted and crashed to the ground. The two pilots succeeded in using emergency jump seats and parachutes to save their lives, and initial reports confirmed that they did not suffer serious injuries, while an air ambulance rushed to the site of the accident to provide the necessary medical care.
It is noteworthy that the ill-fated aircraft is one of the newest training aircraft in the British military fleet, and its estimated value is about 16 million pounds sterling. Until now, the competent authorities have not issued official details about the nature of the defect that led to the loss of control, while investigations are still ongoing to determine the causes of the accident.
