
US Vice President, J.D. Vance, revealed an expected shift in the course of the confrontation between Washington and Tehran, stressing that the conflict between the United States and Iran will enter “a completely different phase within two months,” coinciding with developments in shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and mounting anticipation regarding the path that the relationship between the two countries will take.
Vance explained, in an interview with the New York Post newspaper conducted aboard Air Force 2, that President Donald Trump is the one who, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has the decision to determine the timing of the start and end of conflicts, adding: “We cannot predict the future, but I think the president is right in saying that this matter will enter a completely different phase within two months.”
On the field level, the US Vice President touched on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, indicating that the Iranian regime will continue to lose control over this vital waterway until the election date, while revealing that ship transit and trade through the Strait have returned to “much more than 50% of its normal rate.”
Regarding the internal situation, Vance acknowledged the existence of a state of impatience on part of the American street, but stressed that Washington is not implementing any escalatory moves at the present time, saying: “I certainly realize that there is a degree of impatience among the American people, but what is happening in essence now is that the United States is not participating in aggressive operations. We are not doing that at all.”
These statements come at a delicate stage in which the international community is awaiting the steps that the Trump administration will take during the next two months. Vance linked the situation to the president’s direct decisions, without specifying the nature of the “different phase” and whether he would take a political, military, or negotiating path, in the strategic corridor that constitutes a major artery for global energy supplies.
