Berri reviews with Araghchi regional developments and warns of the repercussions of international silence regarding Israeli attacks
The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, received a phone call from the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, during which the latest developments in the situation in Lebanon and the region were discussed, in addition to a review of current efforts to establish regional security and stability.
During the call, Berri presented field developments in southern Lebanon, pointing out Israel’s continued attacks and non-commitment to the ceasefire agreement, and its continued implementation of the policy of systematic destruction of southern villages and cities. Berri warned of the “dangerous repercussions” resulting from the lack of strict action and silence at the regional and international levels to stop the ongoing Israeli war on Lebanon.
The call also witnessed a detailed discussion of the situation in the Gulf region, and the efforts directed to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between Iran and its Arab and Islamic neighbours, especially the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in a way that ensures the preservation of the sovereignty and independence of the countries of the region and the realization of their common interests.
At the conclusion of the call, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament expressed his thanks to Iran for its continued support for Lebanon, and appreciated its adherence to the necessity of ending the Israeli war as a priority and an essential item within the framework of implementing the existing memorandum of understanding between it and the United States.
