Next Thursday, September 17, Deir el-Qamar bid farewell to the honorary president of the Liberal Patriots Party and its former president and former MP, Dori Camille Chamoun, in a funeral that will be held at 3 pm in the Church of Our Lady of the Hill, before he is buried in the family cemetery.
The prayer for the repose of Shimon’s soul will be celebrated in the Church of Our Lady of the Hill – Deir El Qamar, and the burial ceremony will take place after the prayer.
The family of the deceased will accept condolences starting tomorrow, Tuesday, and the following Wednesday, at the general headquarters of the Liberal Patriots Party, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Condolences are also accepted on Thursday, before and after the burial, in the hall of Our Lady of the Hill Church – Deir El Qamar, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The family will continue accepting condolences on Friday in the hall of St. George’s Cathedral – Martyrs’ Square, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Dory Camille Chamoun passed away at the age of 94. He was born in Deir al-Qamar in 1931, the son of the former President of the Republic and the founder of the Liberal Patriots Party, Camille Nimr Chamoun, and the brother of the former head of the party, Danny Chamoun.
Chamoun assumed the presidency of the Liberal Patriots Party following the assassination of his brother Danny in 1990, and led the party for nearly three decades, before his son, MP Camille Dori Chamoun, succeeded him as party president in 2021.
He also served as mayor of Deir al-Qamar, and was elected as a representative for the Maronite seat in the Chouf district in 2009, and continued as a member of the House of Representatives until 2018.
