An Iranian source told Tasnim Agency that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened under the Iranian-Omani understanding, stressing that Tehran and Muscat have agreed on the details of new routes for entering and exiting the Strait.
The source explained that the entry route, according to the understanding, will be entirely within Iranian territorial waters, while part of the exit route is also located within Iranian territorial waters.
He stressed that the southern route will remain closed, despite the United States’ insistence on reopening it, noting that Iraq will also participate in the Oman meeting scheduled for Monday.
The source added that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries will be informed of the results of the Iranian-Omani negotiations and the decisions that will be taken during the Oman meeting.
He stressed that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz depends entirely on the United States implementing Iranian conditions.
