
Yesterday evening, the Syrian sports journalist and commentator, Iyad Nasser, passed away at the age of 57, leaving behind a busy career that exceeded three decades, during which he was one of the most prominent names in the sports media, and an accompanying voice for the public in following local football matches.
During his years of work, he held several positions, including managing the sports department on Syrian TV and chairing the Sports Journalists Committee. He played an active role in developing television coverage of tournaments, and moving the mode of transmission from traditional commentary to detailed analytical reading of match events.
He also excelled in sports and arbitration analysis, and participated in presenting specialized studios and programs. He benefited from his long experience in following football, to combine editing, commentary, presentation, analysis, and management in his career.
