Manchester City continued its perfect start in the English Premier League, after achieving its second victory in a row under the leadership of its coach Enzo Maresca, by defeating Crystal Palace 4-1 at Selhurst Park.
According to “Sky Sports”, Ryan Cherky was the most prominent star of the match, after he presented remarkable artistic glimpses in the number 10 shirt, reminiscent of scenes of Lionel Messi. He broke through the defense with a beautiful dribble before slotting the ball into the net, doubling City’s lead after an early Erling Haaland goal.
Haaland opened the scoring in the first half with a powerful header, after rising above Chris Richards, scoring his first goal this season.
While City fans were celebrating Cerkey’s first goal, Jeremi Pino added another individual shot, after he executed a free kick from about 25 yards that hit the crossbar and then goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, scoring an own goal against the Italian goalkeeper.
Crystal Palace tried to get back in the game under the leadership of its new coach, Pierre Sage, and succeeded in reducing the gap, but Cherki quickly stopped the home team’s rush, after responding after only 5 minutes with a bold shot that collided with the defense and deceived goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Although Palace created some chances, most notably a close-range header that Tyreek Mitchell missed, Haaland practically ended the match with his second goal, after firing a powerful shot into the net during the final minutes.
With this victory, City raised its score to two victories from two matches, in a strong start to the Marisca project, and with a result very similar to what the team used to present during the era of its former coach.
As for Crystal Palace, it is still searching for its first victory under its new coach, despite the enthusiastic start and offensive attempts that were not enough in the face of City’s individual quality.
