“The documents are settled”... The Ministry of Finance responds to allegations against Jaber

The media office in the Ministry of Finance responded to what was published quoting a former judge regarding the performance of Finance Minister Yassin Jaber, especially the allegation that he refrained from signing the decree related to banking secrecy, stressing that the official documents refute these allegations.

The office explained, in a statement, that the aforementioned decree was issued last year and bore the number 2087, and was published in the Official Gazette, No. 53, on December 18, 2025, specifying the legal mechanism associated with it.

He stressed that the issuance of the decree and its official publication constitute clear evidence that the required executive procedures have been put into effect, contrary to the allegations made about refraining from issuing decrees or disrupting access to banking information.

The media office pointed out that “those who are drawn to politics are not exempt from legal accuracy,” considering that the transition from the judiciary to political work places greater responsibility on its owner in verifying facts and documents before issuing judgments and conclusions.

He added that gaining public opinion, including by directing criticism at an institution or official, remains a legitimate right in public life, but this right must be based on truth, accuracy, and honesty, not on claims contradicted by official documents.

The office concluded by emphasizing that “politics does not excuse the law, and disagreement does not excuse accuracy,” considering that the published documents constitute the decisive reference in responding to what was raised regarding the decree.

The Ministry of Finance’s response comes in light of the continuing political and financial debate regarding the application of legislation related to banking secrecy and access to banking information, which are files directly related to financial and banking reforms that constitute a fundamental axis in the process of restructuring the sector and restoring confidence in it.
