President Fouad Siniora denounced the ongoing Israeli raids and attacks on Lebanon, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, in addition to the recent attack that targeted the Abu al-Duhur military airport in the Idlib countryside in Syria.
Siniora saw, in a statement, that Israel is continuing its attacks on Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria, considering that it is working to establish and expand a continuous strip of security buffer zones, starting from Gaza and the West Bank and extending to the Golan and southern Syria, all the way to Lebanon, under the formula of “yellow buffer zones.”
He said that confronting this Israeli expansion requires building a comprehensive Arab political understanding and position that would attract a Western understanding that would support the efforts aimed at deterring Israel and thwarting its plans.
Siniora called on the international community to be alert to what he described as “Israeli expansionist plans and practices,” considering that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is using them to float himself electorally as the Israeli elections expected next October approach.
He warned that the continuation of these policies would lead to expanding and spreading the framework of wars in the Arab region and increasing global instability, stressing the need for concerted Arab and international efforts to put an end to them once and for all.
