The workers and employees confirmed that “they receive an amount of 13 million liras per month in advance of the salary, and this amount is not enough for a few days, not to mention the inability to pay the rent for the house and provide the necessities of living, medicine, hospitalization and medicine for their families.”
In turn, the mayor’s mayor, lawyer Zuhair Al-Tufaili, confirmed the validity of the demands, and said: “Today we stand with the workers and employees of the Baalbek municipality in their sit-in to say that the employees and workers of the municipality of Baalbek have many dues from the municipality, and the municipality is unable to pay them, knowing that the workers and employees of the municipality of Baalbek have not received any salary since the month of July, and because of their high sense of responsibility and love for the people of their city and their families, they continue to do their work and provide services. Therefore, these people deserve Honoring, and they should not be unable to provide a morsel of bread to their children.”
He added: “We address our letter to the Ministry of Finance and the National Authority to say: Pay the municipalities’ dues and rights, so that the municipality of Baalbek can carry out its duties towards the workers and employees, and continue to provide services to the people. This is essential, and these funds were collected for the benefit of the municipalities, and the municipalities of Baalbek and their workers and employees are the first to receive them.”
He concluded: “The second letter to our people in Baalbek: Collection is also a right for your sake and for the benefit of the municipality, so that the municipality can carry out its duties and serve you at the minimum, and be able to cover its expenses and secure the rights of these good workers and employees who serve you, and secure the costs of maintenance and fuel. I invite you, dear people, to take the initiative to pay what you owe, and do not wait for the collector to come to you; the municipality’s doors are open in order to pay the fees and dues owed to you.”
