A new statement by the father of an Israeli female soldier who was killed in the October 7 attack reopened questions about what happened inside the Nahal Oz base and its surroundings, after he said that testimonies he collected from people who were in the field that day spoke of the presence of gunmen who were communicating with each other in the Persian language, stressing that the families of the victims now know much more details than were available in the weeks and months that followed the attack.
According to a report by journalist Esti Peretz Ben-Ami in the Israeli “Kan”, Eyal Eshel, the father of Roni Eshel, the female observer soldier who was killed in the Nahal Oz camp on October 7, said today, Wednesday, during an interview with “Kan News” on “Reshet Bet” radio, that gunmen who were present in the Gaza perimeter area on the day of the attack spoke in Persian.
Eshel said: “On Saturday, October 7, inside the Nahal Oz camp, there were armed men, and whoever these armed men were, they were talking and shouting to each other in Persian.”
He added: “Every day we learn new things, and now we have learned this as well.”
Eshel explained that this claim is based, according to him, on the testimonies of people who were present in the field and served at the site that day.
He said: “We are based on people who were here and served there. Yes, we know much more today than we knew about Saturday, October 7, during the weeks and months that followed. Yes, today we know.”
Regarding the conclusion he reached from this information, Eshel said: “I understand from this part that they collected information about us before October 7.”
But he explained that the information he was talking about was not obtained from the Israeli army, saying: “These are all things that we collect ourselves. I am working on this, and I am living this. I am on a mission assigned to me by Ronnie.”
Eshel also spoke about his daughter, Ronnie, saying: “I have largely come to terms with the fact that Ronnie will not come back, yes, but she has given me the mission to make this country better, to heal her, and to try to bring her back to health.”
He added: “I am trying with all my might. It takes a lot of resources and a lot of will, for these children who are growing up here today to grow up in a different reality, because we deserve it and they deserve it.”
Eshel’s statements gain their importance from the fact that they are based, according to his account, on field testimonies collected from people who were in Nahal Oz on October 7, and not on official information he received from the Israeli army, which leaves what he revealed in the context of testimonies being collected about the details of that day, and adds a new question to the series of questions that are still being asked inside Israel regarding what preceded the attack and what happened during its first hours.
