The Disaster and Crisis Management Cell in the Sidon Municipality denied what was being circulated regarding the evacuation of displaced people from shelter centers in the city, stressing that this information is “completely baseless,” and that all centers are still standing and receiving displaced people until now.
The cell explained, in a statement, that work in the shelter centers continues in full coordination with the South Lebanon Governorate and the operations room in the governorate, stressing that no official request or decision has been issued to evacuate these centers or remove the displaced from them.
She stressed that everything that is being circulated in this context is baseless, pointing out that if circumstances later require taking measures related to merging some shelter centers or transferring the displaced from one center to another, her position is firm and clear.
The cell stressed that “no displaced person will be removed from any shelter center before securing an alternative and safe place for him,” in full coordination with the relevant official authorities.
While the cell categorically denied the rumors circulating, it called for not circulating any information that does not come from official sources, in order not to cause anxiety and confusion among the displaced people and their families.
