A sit -in in Jen Jenin in protest against a journalist summons

The Bekaa media, with the participation of mayors, carried out human rights workers, and the “My Municipal Cities” association, in a sit -in on the stairs of Saray Jabin Governmental, in protest against the summons of colleague Muhammad Ali Ahmed for an investigation against the background of publishing a press news related to a prisoner’s condition that swallowed three sides that settled in his stomach with the aim of escaping from prison. The prisoner underwent surgery to eradicate the sins before he was returned to prison.
The sit -in witnessed speech in the name of the protesters, during which the participants demanded to stop such practices immediately, to withdraw the summons issued against colleague Muhammad Ali Ahmed, and respect the legal principles that organize the relationship between the media and the authorities.
“We remind all the security and judicial services that the Lebanese law guarantees the right of the journalist not to disclose its sources. And we demand the judiciary, as well as the public opinion, to protect journalists and ensure their right to transfer the facts to public opinion freely and professionally, away from any pressure or narrowing.” On the sidelines of the sit -in, the lawyer, Wajdi Faour, a delegate from the Federation of Journalists in Lebanon, attended the Junin family, where the officials informed the officials. The union is on the method of summons, calling for the transfer of the file to the competent publications court, according to what is stipulated in Lebanese law.
