The “O direction for Palestine” group said that about 50,000 people participated in a “march for humanity” in central Auckland this morning. The New Zealand police estimated the number of attendees at about 20 thousand people. Aram Rata, a spokeswoman for the group, said that she is the largest march in New Zealand to support the Palestinians since the outbreak of the conflict in Gaza. The New Zealand Public Broadcasting Corporation stated that many participants in the protest today raised Palestinian flags and banners reading slogans, including “there is no normalization of collective genocide.” A march closed the famous Sydney port bridge in August, who wanted to close a major bridge in the city with the Saturday march, but they were forced to abandon these plans on Friday because of the strong winds.
