
The deputy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Kelly Clemens, began a regional visit in Lebanon, accompanied by the regional director of the UNHCR office in the Middle East and North Africa, Rima Jamous.
A statement of the Commission indicated that Clemens thanked during the official meetings, the officials who met her, for their “close cooperation with the Commission and their primary role in supporting the return of refugees to Syria. She affirmed the commission’s commitment to continue this important work in close cooperation with the Lebanese government.” The Deputy Commissioner of the High Commissioner described the financing discounts that affected the ability of the commission to respond and urgent support to achieve sustainable solutions to refugees, while continuing the humanitarian response to the basic needs of weak societies in Lebanon.
