The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, condemned the bombing incident that occurred today in Damascus, considering that targeting the security of the Syrian capital at this sensitive time represents an attempt to destabilize stability and undermine the path of recovery that Syria is witnessing.

The President of the Republic expressed Lebanon’s full solidarity with Syria, its people and institutions, in the face of all attempts to tamper with its security, wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded.

Aoun reiterated that the stability of Syria is an integral part of the stability of Lebanon and the entire region, in a position that reflects the direct interconnection between the Lebanese and Syrian security, especially in light of the delicate stage that the region is going through.

The condemnation of the President of the Republic comes at a time when the security developments in Damascus are of particular importance to Lebanon, given the geographical, political and security overlap between the two countries, and the repercussions that any vibrations inside Syria could have on the borders, movement of movement, the issue of the displaced, and the regional balances surrounding Lebanon.

Aoun’s position also carries an official message of solidarity with Damascus at a moment when Syria is seeking to stabilize the path of recovery and restore its political and diplomatic presence, amid security challenges that are trying, according to field data, to disrupt this path and re-enter the country into the cycle of tension.
