The Ministry of Agriculture took legal measures against those who committed serious violations affecting food safety and consumer health.








The step came within the framework of the intensive monitoring campaign implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture to follow up on the conditions of dairy and cheese factories, and ensure their compliance with health conditions and approved technical specifications, and in coordination with the Office for Combating Financial Crimes and Money Laundering.

Based on the recommendation of the Financial Public Prosecutor, the owners of two dairy and cheese production factories bearing the trademarks “Rawabi Al Janoub” and “Dairy Fresh”, namely (K.M.) and (G.L.), were arrested and referred to the competent judiciary to complete investigations and take appropriate legal action.

Also, arrest warrants were issued against other people involved in the same file.

In the context of the executive measures taken, and based on the recommendation of the Financial Public Prosecutor, the specialized teams began destroying the quantities seized and seized inside the refrigerators of the violating dairy and cheese factories, after the results of inspection and analysis showed that they did not comply with the approved health conditions, and that part of them were manufactured using vegetable oils and starch instead of the basic ingredients supposed to be used in dairy and cheese products.

The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed the continuation of its monitoring campaigns on various food institutions and facilities in all Lebanese regions, in cooperation with the competent judicial and security authorities, with the aim of protecting the consumer, ensuring food safety, and preserving the rights of producers who adhere to legal specifications and standards, stressing that any violation that would harm public health will be faced with the most deterrent legal measures.
