International newspapers reacted to the fatal goal scored by Al-Hilal against Al-Nasr during stoppage time, which prevented Cristiano Ronaldo’s team from clinching the Saudi Roshen League title two rounds before the end.

Brazilian goalkeeper Pinto scored an own goal by mistake in the seventh minute of stoppage time, postponing Al-Nasr’s crowning of the Saudi League champion title until Damak’s last match of the season.

The Spanish newspaper “Marca” said that Al-Nasr was deprived of celebrating the title at the last minute, after Brazilian goalkeeper Pinto committed a grave mistake that led to the equalizer, noting that Ronaldo left the field in disbelief of what had happened.

For its part, “AS” titled its report: “A catastrophic mistake leaves Cristiano Ronaldo without a title,” referring to the postponement of the decision until the final round.

The Portuguese newspaper “Record” described what happened as “a catastrophic mistake 12 seconds before the end,” noting that Ronaldo appeared completely devastated after the goal.

The British newspaper “The Sun” highlighted Ronaldo’s heartbreak after the victory goal, saying: Ronaldo was crying after the fatal reverse goal deprived him of his first league title in Saudi Arabia.

The BBC’s “Match Day” account said: An own goal from Pinto in the 98th minute deprived Al-Nassr of winning the league, while the French website “Foot Mercato” headlined: “A catastrophic lapse” that causes Ronaldo’s coronation of the Saudi League title to be postponed.
As for the ESPN account, it said that Al-Nasr was 10 seconds away from its first title since the 2018-2019 season, before Pinto let the ball out of his hands even though there was no Al-Hilal player near him.
