Arbeloa’s statements came after reports of quarrels inside the Real Madrid dressing room, in light of the recent decline in the team’s results, including a dispute between Aurelien Chouamini and Federico Valverde.
Arbeloa said, in a press conference on Saturday: “For things happening in the locker room to be leaked, I consider it a betrayal of Real Madrid, and a complete lack of loyalty to this slogan, and this is something that saddens me very much.”
Asked whether he knew the source of the leaks, he replied: “No, I do not work for the CIA. In the Real Madrid dressing room, I do not press charges against players or anyone, because I cannot do that.”
He added: “What happens in my private conversations with the players will always remain between them and me. This is the way I act, and this is what the locker room should be like.”
Arbeloa touched on the quarrel between Chouamini and Valverde, saying that his office is not inside the dressing room, but that he is ready to take responsibility if it is required to hold someone responsible.
He continued: “It is an uncomfortable situation, and the players know that they made a mistake. This should be a lesson for everyone. We have to turn the page, learn and continue on the path of Real Madrid.”
He concluded by talking about facing Barcelona, on Sunday evening, in the 35th round of the Spanish League, stressing that his team is excited to play a major match against a competitor who is performing well, considering that Real Madrid has the ambition to provide a strong performance and achieve victory.
