Saudi Arabia and Syria agree to increase gas production and develop oil infrastructure

The Saudi “Addis” company reported that it had signed an agreement with the General Petroleum Corporation in Syria. This agreement aims to support natural gas production and modernize the infrastructure of a number of important fields. This step is considered a trend towards attracting Arab investments with the aim of reviving the Syrian energy sector, which was severely damaged as a result of the war and sanctions.

Under this agreement, the company will undertake large-scale maintenance operations, drill new wells, and develop existing facilities, in order to increase the efficiency of extraction and meet the growing needs of the local market for gas, especially with the severe shortage experienced by the electricity and industrial networks.

Reports also stated that the project will use the latest technologies in the field of drilling and oil services to ensure continuity of production. This cooperation comes within the framework of economic understandings aimed at reintegrating Syria into the regional investment system, while waiting for the benefits that this project will provide that affect the stability of energy sources and reduce the living burdens resulting from fuel shortages.
