The Ministry of Public Health denied the validity of the news circulating through social media sites and WhatsApp groups regarding the need for blood donations in Nabatieh hospitals, stressing that the calls circulating were not issued by it.
The Ministry explained, in a statement, that it is coordinating and managing the emergency response in cooperation with emergency teams, blood banks and hospitals, and is continuously following up on field needs in light of the developments taking place in the region.
She stressed that any emergency need for blood or any developments related to the health response will be announced exclusively through the official channels of the Ministry.
It called on citizens and the media not to circulate information or calls not issued by official authorities, in order to avoid causing any confusion in the work of hospitals, blood banks, and teams concerned with responding to emergency cases.
The Ministry of Health’s clarification comes in conjunction with a widespread Israeli escalation in Nabatieh Governorate since the dawn hours, which resulted in a number of martyrs and wounded in more than one area.
The Ministry had announced that the final toll of the Israeli raid on the town of Ansar amounted to 7 martyrs, including 3 children and 2 women, while another raid targeting Al-Zahrani Monastery, according to preliminary information, resulted in martyrs and a number of wounded.
As news of the victims and wounded continued, calls spread through social media groups asking citizens to go to area hospitals to donate blood, before the Ministry of Health intervened to deny the issuance of any official request of this kind.
The call to rely on official sources is particularly important during emergency situations, as uncoordinated calls for blood donations can lead to crowding and confusion in hospitals and blood banks, at a time when response operations need to organize needs according to blood types and quantities required.
In this context, the Ministry confirmed that it is monitoring the situation on the ground in coordination with the relevant health and emergency services, and that it will announce itself any need to donate blood if developments require it.
