Manchester City achieves a historic record in the FA Cup after crushing Liverpool

After a landslide victory over Liverpool by four clean goals in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, Manchester City wrote a new page in the tournament’s annals.

The club announced on its official website that this victory represents the eighteenth consecutive victory at home in cup competitions, which is an unprecedented historical achievement, surpassing the previous record set by Clapham Rovers with 17 consecutive wins between 1873 and 1881.

This amazing series began in February 2017, while the last defeat that Manchester City suffered at home in this tournament dates back to January 2015 against Middlesbrough, which indicates the strength and consistency of the team.

In addition, this victory is the team’s thirty-second successive victory in the FA Cup matches held outside Wembley Stadium (semi-final and final matches), which confirms the wonderful performance provided by the team under the leadership of coach Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City has seven FA Cup titles in its coffers, including two titles under the supervision of Guardiola, who brought the number of titles with the club to 19. The team’s last coronation was in 2023, after a long wait of 119 years since winning the first title in 1904.

Norwegian star Erling Haaland played a decisive role in this victory, as he scored a hat-trick, in addition to another goal scored by Ghanaian Antoine Semenyu, to lead the team to the semi-finals for the eighth time in a row. (Arabic)
