Parliamentary-governmental cooperation to enhance security in Matn"The army is the pillar of stability"

Representative Ibrahim Kanaan met with Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Hajjar, Minister of Interior and Municipalities, where they discussed the issues that the ministry pays attention to at the levels of regions, governors, municipalities and security agencies, in light of the difficult conditions that the country is going through.

In his blog post on the “X” platform, Kanaan stated that the meeting addressed the current situation in Northern Matn, noting that an agreement had been reached regarding following up on the displacement issue and strengthening the role of the Internal Security Forces in maintaining security, in addition to activating cooperation with municipalities in coordination with the region’s representatives.

Kanaan concluded his speech by praising the role of the Minister of Interior, stressing the continuation of communication and cooperation in this critical period, and noting that the army and security forces represent a fundamental pillar of stability in Lebanon in general, and in Mount Lebanon and the northern Matn in particular.

This meeting comes in the context of escalating pressures resulting from waves of internal displacement due to recent security events, and the subsequent logistical and service difficulties facing municipalities and local administrations, especially in the Mount Lebanon regions. The Ministry of Interior appears at this stage as the main coordinating party between the security services and local authorities to control field conditions and maintain stability, amid increasing demands to enhance security preparedness and organize the displacement file in a way that reduces the burdens on host communities.
