Smartphones show the potential to detect some hidden cameras without the need for specialized hardware, thanks to their built-in sensors.
One basic method relies on a magnetic field sensor, and certain applications can detect unusual changes near hidden electronic devices, although these readings are not conclusive evidence of the presence of a camera.
The phone also allows the use of its cameras to monitor infrared rays emitted by some night vision cameras, which appear on the screen in the form of dots of light in the dark.
In addition, the phone’s flashlight can be used to search for small light reflections that may be produced by lenses hidden inside some equipment, such as smoke detectors, clocks, and ventilation openings.
Although these technical means do not guarantee complete detection of all hidden cameras, they contribute to monitoring initial indicators that require a closer examination.
