The President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Captain Muhammad Aziz, accompanied by the Executive Director of Rafic Hariri International Airport – Beirut, Dr. Jalal Haider, made an inspection tour of various parts of the airport, with the aim of closely monitoring the progress of work. The tour included a visit to the control tower, where they witnessed the moment a Jordanian Airlines plane took off.
In a related context, Haider stated, “The numbers reflected a reality completely different from what is rumored, as the airport recorded since the morning hours the departure of 13 flights and the arrival of 8 flights, with expectations that the total number of flights will rise to about 20 flights during the day, which confirms the continuity of work at a normal pace.”
He also stressed that “airport traffic is regular and proceeds in accordance with approved standards,” and urged “the need to stop spreading false news that would raise anxiety among citizens, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances that Lebanon and the region are going through.” He also pointed out that “what deserves praise is the continuation of air navigation, and not the attempt to confuse it by spreading rumours.”
Haider concluded his statement by emphasizing “the importance of the official directives we receive from officials, especially His Excellency the Minister of Public Works and Transport in particular, and the government in general, for the continuity of this vital and important facility to serve the nation and citizens.”
