Avichay Adraee, spokesman for the Israeli army, stated through his account on the “X” platform that the Israeli aircraft carried out an air strike yesterday in the Lebanese University area in Beirut, based on intelligence information from the Military Intelligence Authority.
Adraei reported that the strike led to the death of Mortada Hussein Sorour, whom he described as a member of Hezbollah’s air unit (“Unit 127”).
He stated that “Sorour” was, in his words, an important figure and expert in the field of weapons manufacturing within the party, adding that he was the brother of “Mohammed Hussein Sorour,” the commander of the air unit in Hezbollah, who was killed in the “Shamal Arrows” operation.
“Adraee” pointed out that “Sorour” was also working as a lecturer in chemistry at the Lebanese University in Beirut, considering that there are other elements in the party who work in the fields of military production in addition to their academic work in Lebanese universities.
He also explained that Hezbollah’s weapons manufacturing sites are scattered in various places inside Lebanon, with the aim of developing its ability to produce weapons independently.
He concluded his speech by saying that the party is working, as he said, to integrate its members and leaders into the civil fabric in different regions of Lebanon.
