The US special envoy, Steve Witkoff, explained that Russian President Vladimir Putin was “always frank” in his dealings with him during their numerous meetings.
In a statement to Fox News, Witkov stated that Putin “has never been anything but frank with me, and when I say this I am attacked, but it is the truth. He told me that these are his red lines,” according to what was reported by the Russian “TASS” agency.
He also stressed the importance of understanding Russia’s point of view, pointing out that he faced criticism for meeting with Putin eight times, asking: “How can you make an agreement with someone from the other side without knowing his motives?”
He added: “I needed to understand his motivations, goals, etc., and I believe that many of these meetings have now become extremely important.”
In conclusion, Witkoff stressed: “I think those meetings were important, and we hope that we will reach a conclusion in all of this.”
