Haider Makiya, head of the National Investment Commission in Iraq, reported plans to transform the border city of Al-Tayeb into a major economic center with a huge investment estimated at about $65 billion.

Makiya stated: “Al-Tayeb is a multi-service economic city located on an area of ​​​​more than 120 thousand dunams, and the value of investments in it exceeds 65 billion dollars, of which 5 billion are for infrastructure, roads, electricity, and others.”

According to what was reported by the Iraqi News Agency “INA”, Makkiya stressed the great potential of the city, saying: “The city has an abundance of natural resources that enable it to succeed in terms of water, hills, fuel and other natural sources such as sand and gravel, and there is an abundance of natural resources with which it is possible to create a city with this specialization.”

Makiya continued: “We are awaiting the second task, which is harvesting the water that the city needs, and in the coming months it is possible to announce the Al-Tayeb City project as an investment opportunity.”

He added, explaining: “There are 6 investment cities according to the availability of natural resources, and in every location that Iraq needs, it is possible to establish a multi-service economic city within the path of development.” (Arabic)
